A CHALLENGE

This may seem like a CRAZY POST , but this was on my heart today....and I cannot get it off my mind....I have posted before my thoughts on the importance of SNAIL MAIL. You know that many of my GIVEAWAYS are what my customers call "The Card Box"! It is an enabler...if you have cards on hand you are MUCH MORE likely to send them. You think of a person that needs encouragement and by the time you get to a store where cards are, you have forgotten. THIS IS ALL COMING from the QUEEN of email. Then I read this post Kelly wrote on snail mail! CONFIRMATION....Nothing brings a smile like a note or card in the mail that someone is thinking about you or praying for you. WE probably will NEVER know when a card helped a friend make it through the day. We know lots of peoples problems, but I am convinced we have no idea the hurts that are behind the best looking doors. I work in homes that have FABULOUS doors. Sometimes I leave thinking if others really knew the hurt, the fear and the hopelessness behind that door, they would not envy the big house. I am a card sender....at least every few nights I ask God who I can encourage...this is not bragging...I have cards within arms reach, so its not hard. I cannot tell you the times that someone has emailed me or even sent me a note telling me that they were going through the trial of their life and the card made their day.

PROOF enough for me that snail mail is still IN! I do not write long messages, most of the time the card says it all and I just sign it..

I realized I just posted last night, so this posts comments will go in the drawing tomorrow night also....

Because I love to give, but more than that, BECAUSE I want to HELP YOU BLESS someone else, I will draw 3 extra names and each of those bloggers will receive a gift of cards....I have NEVER known a time when I have personally known more people that are in HUGE battles and in need of a little encouragement. What about you?

I REALLY want this to be BIG. I want SNAIL MAIL to become popular again. Send a new reader or readers and let me know and I will enter your name 5 extra times...

MAIL SOMEONE A CARD THIS WEEK!

If you missed the post from last night, there are some CUTE pictures ....and on a side note, Amanda just called and to tell me Jack's school had just called and he has 101 fever. WILL THE SICK SEASON EVER END? I would really be concerned about our family and OUR immunity or LACK OF, but I know so many families that are going through the same "cannot get well" syndrome at their houses.

I agree! Email is never acceptable for thank you notes, invitations, or Christmas cards LOL Plus nothing outs a smile on your face like a trip to the mailbox!

Hi, Teresa! Long time, heh? Sorry. Checked your blog - sorry to hear of all the yucky bugs going around - hope everyone gets well SOON! Yes, I agree - a hand written note is a blessing to receive - even if it so small to say "just thinking of you!". Definitely a lost art!

Hand written notes are the best. I call them a "warm fuzzy" because they make me feel sooo good when I receive one!

Teresa,

I am a firm believer that the written word can never be replaced, otherwise what is the point for us learning to write? I mean in this age in technology we are fast losing what is really important and I can tell you that NOTHING, makes my day better than a handwritten card in the mail, especially when I am going through a major storm, NOTHING!

I would love the opportunity to win one of your card packs because you are right, if you have them, you will send them. I would also encourage your readers to add some stamps to that pile so their excuse for not sending them out is avoided!

Oh, I so agree that there is no substitute for REAL letters and cards...and it's not just because I work for the post office! It just seems so much more thoughtful and personal when someone goes to the trouble to BUY the card, WRITE the message, ADDRESS the envelope, SEAL the envelope, STAMP the envelope, and DROP it in the mail. I hope snail mail never goes out of style.

Nezzy (Cow Patty Surprise) said...

I do the same thing. I always keep cards on hand and am always sending notes of encouragement to others. There is just nothing that replaces the time and care someone takes to hand-write a note. More cards...your rock!

Have a restful evening!

I totally agree that card sending is a lost art. I still send them because I think people love to receive things other tahn bills and they will put a smile on their face. Needless to say, I'd love to win.

Girl, you are so right... I get giddy with excitement whenever I see a handwritten card from someone in the mail pile. It's like the best surprise! I love it. :)

I love getting a card in the mail. Letter writing is a lost art. People just don't realize how encouraging and uplifting a brief note can be. It makes the recipient feel special. Thanks for sharing and the great giveaway. Blessings, SusanD

Oh, I agree! I need to make it a point to grab a card and send it out when it's on my mind instead of waiting until later. I always love getting mail. Thanks for the reminder!

Teresa,

You are so right - nothing lifts the spirits like receiving a hand written note. We are losing that "connection" today. I, too, send out cards = not as often as I should, but it makes me feel good to take the time to let someone know I care and how important they are to me.

Keep up the good work!

I love cards, and used to send more than I do now. I am getting worse about it in my older age. Now the post office is talking about cutting out Saturday mail. I heard one man on the news channel say it is all going digital. That is so sweet of you to be so thoughtful. Blessings ~
Praying your son will be well soon ~

Oh and normal days I guess are just when nothing surprising or crisis happens. I know that is a horrible definition but it is just too late for me to be able to pull my thoughts together for a better definition. Haha.

You are a huge encourager! This is such an important post! You are exactly right in that I never remember a time when I find so many hurting and discouraged people. A card has lifted my spirits many times, and that is precisely the reason that I send cards. I want to sincerely thank you for sharing this post and the important and so necessary message it contains.

I would love to win one of your kind giveaways. What a giving person you are. So sorry to hear of your little one's high temp again. I do hope he is feeling better by now.

At one time I had over 120 penpals from around the world, and oh how I so loved receiving and sending long letters and cards. Then came the internet and many penpals decided to just email instead. As you say, snail mail has become almost obsolete and nowadays all we receive in our mailboxes are bills and junk mail. When I do receive a card or even short letter now, it completely thrills me and makes my day:-) Yes, let`s get snail mail going again!!!!

Praying that Jack`s fever has gone down. It`s been a long winter of illness for so many people.

Have a wonderful weekend my friend. xoxo

Teresa, I'm ashamed to say that this was my new year's resolution and I'd already kind of forgotten. Thank you for the important reminder.

My MIL sends notes of encouragement to people constantly. She really writes too...she doesn't just sign her name. It's always such a blessing to receive a sweet note.

Just wanted to stop over and say hi
Thank you for your sweet visit to my blog. Looking forward to your posts. I am a note person. I love sending notes and getting them as well. I'm with you I think snail mail should not go by the wayside. It is always such a day brightener when you go get the mail and find a card or note inside!!

I love to receive cards. But I'll be the first to admit I don't send them. Thanks for the eye opener! I WILL get better at this.

Thanks for stopping by my new little blog and leaving an encouraging comment.
Snail mail, I love it. I am and always have been a card sender. I love to get mail that is personal and not a bill! I often pick up blank card sets just to have on hand. I admit, I send less mail and cards these days now that I email photos of the kids. I still do however, just not as often. Unfortunately, I think letter writing is getting lost in this digital age. One thing that I am really bothered by is that people don't send thank you cards anymore. Its a personal pet peeve! I go so far as to not let my kids spend their birthday money until the card has been written!

ps. totally off topic, but I have fabric that looks almost exactly like your side bar graphic! The yellow is not so mustard colored though.

Thank you for drawing my attention to your blog. I think it's going to be a favorite of mine. I too am a big card sender. Sometimes with a plate of cookies or sometimes in the mail. I agree, snail mail sure is wonderful.. I am a big "homemade" card person.

I hope your family heals soon. Our family knows illness all too well just like so many families. Our son has IGA Immune Deficiency and sometimes he just get clobbered. It's been a good year for him though.

Hey! Its so nice to meet you! :) I just became a follower of yours and I can't wait to see your blog regularly.

I have to agree... there is nothing like receiving a card out of the blue. It really makes a difference. My grandmother died a few weeks ago and I received a card from an old friend. It meant the world to me that she thought enough to sit down and write me a note. So... thank you for this post! I couldn't agree more!!! God bless~
