AFTER 17 YEARS IN THE TREE BUSNESS, AN ACCIDENT AND MORE PICTURES

If you missed this post, be sure and start there and see the beautiful pictures of the Hinton home.  This post will be full of more pictures of the same home.

I guess I better share that I am
out of commission for several weeks.

After seventeen years of no injuries, yesterday that changed.  We were at one of my longtime dear friends and clients and I had gone to the garage to put some empty boxes to take to the attic.  Just a normal thing we do everyday.

We were about 50% finished with the house.  Somehow I missed the step that went down into the garage and in trying to break my fall ( I did fall) I turned my ankle or so I thought.

I came back in the house, not in much pain, and went back to work on the tree.  I  casually said "Dang I fell in the garage" and at that point I had not even looked at my ankle.  We all looked at the same time and all felt instant nausea. It looked U.G.L.Y.

It looked like I had a 10 pound tumor on my ankle and it was continuing to swell and turn blue.  Fortunately for me we were working at an orthopedic surgeons home.  He came home a few minutes later and checked it out...

I was still working on the tree and determined to keep working until he said I was going to the ER as in NOW

He called ahead to another orthopedist and he met me at the hospital.  Bill was thinking I might need surgery and maybe a pin put in...Not what I wanted to hear...

Long story short, it was not broken but a 4th degree sprain and some torn tendons and ligaments.

I have a soft cast to my knee for 10 days and then a walking boot for 3 weeks...Do the math! That means through Christmas.  We are down to 5 houses and the elves are totally able to do them...

I am going to work on one next week on a limited basis..I sure have new empathy for those on crutches...I really am horrible walking on them.  Today was the first tree I ever missed during a tree season

So I will be fine, I will be frustrated ( I cannot drive for a month) I will probably do things I am not suppose to, I will whine, I will do all my shopping online, and I will be so thankful when elves show up to decorate my house.  So that's the story and it is what it is.

Now enjoy more shots from this beautiful house.

more pics:)

Now Move over To A Baby Changes Everything to see EVEN more GREAT pictures of this house.

So sorry about your accident. I am loving that aqua color scheme. It wouldn't go in my house but I'm tucking that away for a future beach house : )

you need one of those rolling carts you can rest you leg on as you roll along...they surely beat crutches.

Well, good gravy, Girl. What a terrible thing to have happen at your busiest time of the year. I know you must be terribly frustrated but hope you make it a priority to enjoy the slowed pace. After reading your last few posts, I think God must have something really special in mind for you this year.

The house is incredible. Our state capitol isn't this wonderful. Not even in my wildest imagination can I see myself living there--but it's wonderful to dream, right?

I hope some of those folks you do so much for remember to fix you a cup of hot chocolate and put a Christmas CD on to play this afternoon. Feel better soon....

I follow your two blogs, but I don't have a blog. ha! So I totally understand if you don't except my friend request because you don't even know me. I so enjoy reading your blogs & just wanted to tell you that I am praying you get better soon. I think I started following your blog thru your scary time with your husband. Can't even remember now its been so long & I can't remember anything lol. Also, just wanted to say I sure wish you & your elves lived closer to Tennessee. You are wonderful at what you do & its alot of hard work!!! The older I get the less I decorate & I really do love it, but I just don't. God Bless You & Merry Christmas!!!

Love the decorations, especially the brown and blue!

I am so sorry for your injury. I was thinking that maybe God wants you to slow down a bit and because you haven't been listening to him he gave you no choice! ((HUGS))

I finished my decorations last night...thank goodness! I've had not one, but two tree fiascoes. Wish you had been at my house.

Loved getting your email today with the news that it's feeling better.

Take care sweet friend.

Oh Teresa,
How awwwwwwwwfuuuuuullllllll! I'm so sorry to hear your news! OUCH! True story...one time I missed the last couple of basement stairs and did the exact same thing...The WORST pain...I can say worse than childbirth! 4 kids and still worse! HA! I'm sympathizing with you my dear! I think your work is now officially on hold for a while. Prayers for you! You definitely deserve a rest and break time. You just let everyone baby and pamper you!
Please keep us posted on your healing and maybe you can have your elves take pics and you do all the posting!
Thinking of you!

Lovely...take it easy and try not to do the things the Dr says not to do. Of course, I don't always follow Doctor's orders either.
