NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A COMPLIMENT OR A SMILE

Today was a day I felt ugly, felt fat, maybe just a tad bit of depression, just struggling to get motivated on Christmas stuff...Maybe at least one of you have had those feelings before.  I was tired, had probably walked 5 miles from one end of market to another looking for one particular thing.  As I stepped on the elevator, the little lady sitting at the bottom checking to be sure only people with market tags around their necks got on, SMILED AT ME and said "You look so pretty and your skin is beautiful".  Now neither were true, but her compliment and smile changed my entire day. If that was NOT enough she then said how much she loved my outfit! (at least 3 years old)  I made a new commitment to make eye contact with people, and smile with a compliment. If we all did this, this cold
cynical world might change.

THESE next pictures have nothing to do with this post, just a little man that might make you smile! This was from Friday night when he spent the night with me

JACK IS 2 and a HALF and HE IS AVAILABLE.
PROOF THAT NO TOYS ARE NEEDED.  A BOX IS ONE OF JACK'S FAVORITE THINGS!
Thanks to each one of you for your  sweet words of encouragement.  I am fine...Just have several situations going on, none that I can do anything about other than pray. Nothing has changed with any of them, but getting away, even if it was to work on Christmas buying at market, has been better than sitting home and worrying about them...I can worry well!  I like to be able to FIX THINGS and these situations fall under the "not fixable" at least by me...I love a great hotel and I have spent the last four nights in one. There is something to be said for someone else making the bed, letting the dog out (the dog hotel at home), room service, and sleeping a lot. In the next day or so I am going to give you some MEGA EYE CANDY on the Holiday Blog.  Since I told you I would draw Sunday and it is now Monday night, I am going to wait until I see Parker on Thurs and giveaway two groups of ornaments instead of one, so all comments on this post will be included too......so you still have time to comment or send a friend.  I picked up some gorgeous ORNAMENTS today.

ONE OF THE MOST FUN THINGS to HAPPEN this weekend, was I met KRISTEN from KRISTEN'S CREATIONS.  I have bought things from her Etsy store, helped her plan a Disney trip, visited with her by email for months....we both decorate trees, but we had never met...I was in a showroom that I had not even planned to stop in and was DEEP in thought about a tree when I passed this beautiful girl, walked past and then thought "That looks like Kristen"
I knew she was at market, but had told her I was not going to be there..but really was not looking for her.  I thought by the time I got there she had probably already gone home to Arkansas.  So what do I do...I say her name...the worst thing that could have happened would she would not have turned and answered...BUT IT WAS HER.  I even got to see her again today and meet Sherry, her friend she works with.  I got a picture of us together yesterday, but I looked like Jack had put on my lipstick and it was just too bad to post.
SHE IS GORGEOUS
KRISTEN REALLY IS BEAUTIFUL! This is my FIRST REAL BLOG FRIEND TO MEET IN PERSON.

Glad to see you are back and that you got to meet Kristen. Sounds like a very productive shopping trip...can't wait to get inspired more by your Christmas blog. I have been a bit of a humbug the last 2 years...depression funk...this year is going to be a good one! I just know it! :) You make me smile just reading your posts!

Enjoy your time at market... sounds like you're in the right place at the right time for some blessings! At least the blessing of getting away from it all. Praying for you.

I'm so glad you got to meet a blog friend. I've had that pleasure quite a few times and I'm always amazed at how much I like them even more in person. Every.single.one is exactly as I thought they would be. I can't wait until the day you and I can meet too.

BTW...I know what you mean about compliments. The other day I was out shopping, not feeling great about myself, and two ladies stopped and went on and on about my hair and wanted my hairdressers info. At the next store, a lady ooohed and aaahed over my jewelry. You're so right, it takes someone just a second to totally make us feel differently. We should all help make someone else feel special today. Thanks for the reminder.

Hugs,
Kat

I agree with the comment that said you were in the right place at the right time to receive some blessings!...Isn't God good?!!!!
He knows our every need.

I am sorry that you have been feeling down lately. Me too. We just lost a very dear friend of 30 years and will be going to his service in Arizona. His daughter is getting married 3 days later so we will be there for that. I need to wrap my arms around his sweet wife and show her how much I love her.

Life is hard sometimes and we all need to encourage each other.

Have fun and enjoy yourself.
So glad that you met your blog friend.

Love you Grammy Girlfriend!

I love how God puts someone in our path to lift our spirits and make us smile.

I'm so glad that not only did you get a chance to go shopping but to meet a blog friend face to face. That's the sweetest thing ever!

Of course, Jack and his box is even sweeter!

I wish I could meet someone from blog land! I had one woman talk to me from the same city I live in...only she wanted to rip me off for a bunch of free flowers...and when I said no she never talked to me again! I have had days like the one you described...in fact...today is one of those days...your post cheered me girl!

Oh how cute that little boy is! My littles always make my day.

A sincere compliment makes my day too. Such a wonderful way to declare the worth of someone..... When I taught the new employees at my work on Dementia, I always encouraged them to compliment the elders on something....their smile, their beautiful eyes, their dress, sweater, shirt.....has to be sincere and it works!

Hope you are having a great day today!

Glad you're back and have been praying for you Grammy Girlfriend!!

Isn't it wonderful how God sends the most unlikely people or situations to "lift our head" and encourage us! You'd never thought that the ID checker would be the one He'd use to put a smile on your face and spring in your step!!

Looking forward to photos of your Christmas treasures!

BTW...Jack is a hoot!!

Hugs and Sweet Blessings!

Hi Teresa, it's 2:15 in the morning and I'm going to have to find some toothpicks to hold my eyes open if I don't get in the bed! I just wanted to tell you how cute Jack is and thank you for saying such nice things about me! Funny about the lipstick...however, you looked great!! Glad you didn't post me in color... I still don't know what that red mark was. :0

I just did a post and put our picture up. Take a look when you have time.

Talk to you soon, Kristen

My Venti's favorite toy when he was younger was a box! He used to get in it and his Uncle's would take turns pushing him back in forth! He got the biggest kick out of it!

And yes a compliment does go a long way...I think that lady was there for a reason and she gave you a new outlook on the day...or maybe every day!!

Have a great Sunday!

Oh! I had a "mini-melt-down" after work on Thursday! Love my patients, but it was a very long day and so many complex treatment plans and dental cleanings with a couple of apprehensive patients. Again, it blesses me to take my time, work through a patient who is very hesitant due to a past bad experience and have them feel better after their appt with me.
Hoping that you are feeling encouraged and lifted up. What a blessing a kind word or smile is!

As shucks, I think that I missed this giveaway! But congratulations to the winner.

HOW exciting too to meet up with another blogger friend! Yes, she is gorgeous! (You are too, my friend!) How fun! I can't wait til I have a chance to meet up with a blogger friend :o)

Blessings & Aloha!
(Oh yes, congratulations on all your followers! Wowzer! :o)
