TWO STORIES

I am so mad at myself….I had written an entire post,  my hand slipped (I am typing at an strange desk in a hotel)and I erased the post…I think that is the first time I have ever done that.  Kind of fits with my week.  This has not been my best week.  Just when I thought we were ready to live life again full speed, one trip to a new doctor and everything changes.  Jack needs some heart surgery.
Not a huge deal, but everything seems to be magnified since his stroke.  It seems that over the twenty uneventful years of NO problems since his heart attack and quadruple bypass…
(Can it really be that 20 years have passed?) his heart muscle has gotten larger and weaker.  Scary!
I could go into a hundred details about why we should have known this before .  There are a lot of “what if’s, we should have and why didn’t his longtime cardiologist tell us this".

But it is what it is.

So in a week or so we will see another specialist and prepare to have a pacemaker/defibrillator put in..I think something like Dick Cheney has…more than just a pacemaker…but not exactly sure what it is, except for scary. I will post more about it when I know more.  For now I ask you to simply pray.

After the news this week, Jack and I decided to just take a trip.  Dallas was close and so we are here for  four or five days and just living life.  I need to make a stop at market and we have several new restaurants that we have wanted to try…Today we saw a GREAT movie, The Grace Card
See it!
I got to spend some time in Central Market, which I love and we had a great meal at The Grand Lux.

My natural instinct is just to hibernate for a few days after unsettling news, but I can already tell this normal trip is going to be good for both of us.
I had not planned to write about the surgery, but maybe one of you out there has one or has a family member that does and you can tell me more about it. Jack in his typical attitude wanted to go straight to the hospital and have it done…Does not happen quite that fast, but probably will be within the month.
The doctors words were we needed to do it sooner rather than later.

Guess I better get to the two stories.  One is a BRAG. (Grammy's are allowed) and one is just funny or at least it was in person..
For the BRAG….
I vividly remember when someone rudely questioned Amanda (in my presence) about whether she would be able to raise a baby….THAT BABY THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING when she was an 18 year old senior.
This is NOTHING against adoption, that just was NOT an option we looked at.  Period, end of story, none of your business was what I always wanted to say and probably did a few times.    Yesterday we got word that PARKER scored in the TOP 5% of fifth graders in the STATE of Louisiana.
I think she handled it pretty well.  I don’t know who I am prouder of, her or Parker.  There is no doubt in my mind that Parker is going to be a world changer.
and yes he was raised by a teenage Mom.
Here’s the FUNNY
It may lose some of its FUNNY when I tell it….but if you look at the pictures under it, you will see the character I was playing with.
Jack ran errands with us Friday and decided to come home and spend the night.  He just had a bag with diapers and a change of clothes, as we had not planned a big overnight.  I have told you Woody has all of us role play and normally his bag is full of all the Toy Story characters in all shapes and sizes. He had Woody and we were about to sit down and watch Toy Story for the 1000th time.  I ask who I was going to be.  He takes a long look
into his bag,
then looks at me very seriously and says,
“Do you want to be a diaper or a shoe?”

I am still laughing just thinking about it.  That’s all he had to offer…
In case you are wondering these are the many faces of Woody while watching the movie.100_4261

Oh no! I am so sorry about Jack's need for surgery Teresa. My hubby and I will be praying for him for sure my friend. Keep the faith sweetie.

Glad you could get away. And so glad you saw the Grace Card! It is a movie that will change lives! We previewed it here in Wichita and I haven't stopped telling people about it!

I hope people will go see it and take their friends and family...and then tell everyone they know to go too. (:>)

We all need to extend Grace to others...the way God does to us!

Love you,
Linda @ Truthful Tidbits

Getting news like that is always scary! We mostly feel like if there is one big scare then that should be the ONLY big scare! We get complacent and then bam! all that adrenalin starts pumping again. It's an awful feeling! Not one of the better parts of life! Best wishes that (big) Jack's surgery goes well.

As for (little) Jack (I get confused easily), if he didn't have any other characters to offer, he at least still wanted you to be a part of the game. So what did you choose, the diaper or the shoe?? LOL! I would have taken the shoe....a shoe gets to go places but a diaper....well, we all know what happens to a diaper!! Seems like the shoe is the clear winner! LOL! (I crack myself up!)

First of all...that WAS funny and I am still laughing. What a kid that Woody is!!!! Ha Ha!

Second, thank you so much for sharing *The Grace Card.* I watched the trailer and I cannot WAIT to go see it.

Third, PROUD is an understatement. Woah!! Hoah!! for The Baby Who Changed Everything!

And last, but certainly on my prayer list, is your sweet husband. I have no words of wisdom and I don't have any knowledge of the procedure, but I DO know the ONE who has him in HIS hands....and I will pray !

So nice to get away. So sorry about the slip of hand.....I've done that. So frustrating!

You have every right to be proud! Don't forget the Mamma who raised the teen Mom! She did a good job too =)

First of all, my dear friend... you CAN'T go thru things without our prayers!!! SO, it is a good thing that you shared Jack's surgery with us, OR you would have a spanking coming from ME:) I just spoke with my Cousin yesterday, he had a pacemaker put in back between Thanksgiving and Christmas! It was JUST the pacemaker and is working FINE! I'll start the prayer wheels turning and keep them turning!

Now Woody, gosh... is he just the cutest? I LOVE it that he didn't have all of his Toy Story stuff but wanted to spend the night anyway! I was so hoping to see you dressed up in the diaper or the shoe:) hehe!

Have a blessed day my dear Teresa! Big HUGS and loads of PRAYERS!

Hi Teresa! I'm so sorry to hear about your husband and his upcoming surgery. He'll be in my prayers. Glad you two were able to go on your trip.
Little Jack is just a doll! What pretty eyes and that blond hair. He's gonna turn some heads! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I am sorry to hear that your husband needs more surgery Teresa. I'm sure it does feel like you were just ready to be back to "normal"! We will keep your family in prayer that all goes well and quickly!

Your little guy is a doll and your story is too funny. I, too, would choose the shoe!! {I usually have to be the evil emperor Zurg, so your choices were much better:-) }

Have a great time in the Big D ~ I am off to Central Market myself.

I think that's a pretty good contrast - a diaper or a shoe! LOL

I'm so sorry about Jack having to have surgery, but hey, at least you had a warning this time! Will keep praying.

I am so proud of Parker. Having taught 5th grade, I can tell you that is wonderful.

PS ~ totally forgot to mention what wonderful news about Parker. That is really something to be proud of, and I can see why you have a hard time choosing between Parker and his mom ~ I say ~ they are BOTH to be very proud of their accomplishments!!

So glad I wasn't drinking something when I read Jack's question (a diaper or a shoe?) or I might have spewed it all over my keyboard! LOL Too funny!

I'm glad you and Jack were able to get away for a few days alone. I hope you're able to unwind and just enjoy.

I'm keeping you both in my prayers.

Hugs,
Kat

Hello Teresa! I'm a bit late reading my blogs, but wanted to send good thoughts and prayers your way for you, Jack and the family!

I suppose having your grandson to lighten the air is a blessing during tough times...

Remain strong!
