PLEASE PRAY

UPDATE...Friday noon
I just added a picture of Will's family. The best place to go for current updates is to the Facebook page. He did make it through the night and I just heard that his kidneys are working and he was on his way to have another cat scan...Will update as I know anything else. My deepest thanks to all my friends in blogland for praying. Please pass his name and his family on to every prayer group that you know.

Friends... This is a picture of Will Matthews. I wanted you to have a picture to go with your prayers. Will is a 14 year old boy from Shreveport that goes to Calvary Christian Academy. Just a few days ago he was HEALTHY and playing football. Today should have been his first day of high school. Tonight he is fighting for his life after a brief illness, which has turned out to be bacterial meningitis. His heart stopped last night and he is now on a vent. I do not know Will personally, but we have a thousand mutual friends and our city is on its knees tonight for this kid. This was the latest update from a close friend of mine and also of Will's family.

"The neurosurgeon came by and there is nothing he can do. The infection is in the cells and can't be drained. The doctors have said its all in Gods hands now, there is nothing else they can do. My heart is breaking for them. Please continue to pray."
His classmates have circled the hospital tonight in a prayer vigil. There is a FB page, Praying For Will Mathews, where you can leave prayers for the family. Please feel free to stop by and leave a prayer for this sweet family.
He is critical RIGHT NOW and needs a miracle.
Life can change in a moment. PLEASE huge your kids tonight and pray FERVENTLY for this child and his family. Not one of us knows when we will need others to PRAY. Parker is 11...I cannot imagine him going in the hospital for an infection and 24 hours later not knowing if he would live through the night. Jack had meningitis when he was five days old, but it was viral. He was critical! Our family will never again here the word MENINGITIS without breathing one more thank you to GOD for healing him. He is a HEALTHY TWO YEAR today. Our hearts hurt tonight for this family. I know the blog world is full of wonderful people that believe in the power of prayer...Please pray.

Praying for Will and his family. May God's angels surround his bed and keep him safe from any further harm. May God's love hold the family up to face whatever His will is. May God's hand guide the caregivers in charge of Will's medical needs.
God's will.
Our prayers.

I will be remembering Will in my prayers! What powerful pictures of his classmates praying around the hospital, gave me goosebumps to see. God has definately heard their prayers, and is holding Will in the palm of his hand while his body fights to recover!

This touched my heart so much. I have a 14 year old grandson named Will with curly hair. He will be 15 soon. I pray for this Will that God will heal him and let him live to see 15 too.

God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Thanks for sharing this.

Hi Teresa, I am praying for a miracle for this sweet boy.

My good friend's little baby was just flown to Children's. She was born not breathing and has some liver issues and other things wrong...they are trying to find out. Keep her in your prayers...

I went to a funeral for a 5 year old precious little girl the other day. She was fine on Friday, then Friday night she had a headache and was trowing up. Sat. morning she was unconcious and they flew her to Children's and found out she had a brain tumor. She died Sat. night. Just heartbreaking...

These things are hard when it's an adult, but way worse when it's an inocent little child. I can't imagine...Keep these families in your prayers if you would...thanks, Kristen

Teresa,

I am praying for Will and will continue to do so. I will also stop by his FB page and leave a message.

PLEASE tell everyone you know there IS an immunization to help protect against bacterial meningitis! It is usually given at the 11-12 year check-up when kids are entering middle school. However, some doctors give it and some don't unless you specifically ask for it, because it is not required. However, it IS required for ALL college freshmen who will be living in a dorm.

I have worked in the Pediatric ICU of a large Children's Hospital and then many years for a pediatrician. I highly recommend having children immunized against it as an adolescent because of cases like Will's. My children were all immunized at age 11. HERE is some information from the CDC about it.

Well, I hope you are having a fantastic Friday otherwise. Thanks again for the book. I just received it and I can't wait to read it! You are amazing.

Please stop by sometime today and see the incredible video I have posted. You will be in awe.

Hi Teresa,

I am saying a prayer for this young man and his family. Even when the doctors say, "Nothing else I can do", we know that God specializes in miracles.

Lord we ask that You heal Will Matthews of the bacterial meningitis attacking his body. Let there be a testimony on the power of the God of all heaven and earth to heal this young student. Restore the health of his body.

Thank You Lord.

Amen.

So sad! :( This is the 3rd case I have heard of this and it just breaks my heart. A 3yo that goes to the same daycare as my older kids got it and ended up losing his legs. It's so awful.

If you or any child gets a fever that spikes high and doesn't feel good...get in ASAP. This isn't something to mess around with!

Praying as if he were mine.

Father in heaven, I lift up Will to You, O great Healer. Just like the friends who brought the paralyzed man down through the roof of the home where You were talking. Desperate and filled with faith, I cry OUT to You, God. Will You heal Will? Will You destroy this killer that is in his cells? Will You comfort this family in crisis? Will You be God...here...at this time and in this need? My faith believes You can and that You will. Do it, Lord. Hold up mom of Will. Wisely empower dad of Will. Let siblings and friends of Will continue praying by faith. May this be for Your Glory. Just look at those praying warriors of faith in the parking lot of the church praying. What a testimony! Use it for Your Glory. In Jesus Name. Amen.
