PARKER
Along came a boy...not just any boy, but a little boy that would totally rock our world. You will have to read the post about "My Girl" to first meet Parker. From that May day in 1999 until today, when we are a month away from him being 10, everyday has been special. Parker and his Mom lived with us the first six years of his life. He has always been his Pop's best little buddy and "the best thing that ever happened to me"! That is something I tell him everyday of his life.
We have had the great privilege to be able to travel with him....We call them Grandparent trips...We have taken him to Disneyland, Disney World seven times, spent a week in New York City with him, have even done a week in Las Vegas with the our little man. We have traveled to Sante Fe, Gatlinburg, and many other places. ...Grandparents will travel!
And they will buy you anything you "just look at" and act like you want! The best part of Parker's story is, somehow we have still have a sensitive, caring, non bratty, appreciative, super FUN little boy.
Parker has had the opportunity to travel with his Pop on many
athletic trips. He has met some great athletes, college and professional football players, even got to spend some private time with Shaq a few years ago. We are firm believers that travel is the best education! But he is also an excellent student, so we do not have to worry about him missing school.
He is a master at video games, Wii, and somehow has accumulated all of the different gaming systems. Wonder how? This is a blessed and loved little guy. He is the Best Big brother to Jack and Austin (his Cuz) is his very best friend. They have cousins camp often.
I never dreamed on the day Amanda told us she was pregnant, that one little baby would change our world in such a big way. I could write a book on our 10 year adventure, but will save some details for other posts. So meet Parker, ONE AWESOME BOY!

We don't get to always choose the circumstances in our lives, but we CAN choose how we react to them....and you have chosen well! I can tell how easy it is for both of you to love Parker. Isn't it a blessing how our Lord works?! He is precious....not that you didn't already know that! My parents did the trip thing with my three too(and all the other grands). They took the boy cousins one summer, the girls the next and then repeated every summer. The last trip was all together and they took a Disney Cruise. My adult children are so very close to their grandparents as adults!!! You are indeed making memories. I want to make them with mine too! Thanks for sharing.
We have 8 grandkids and each one is special, but I have to admit that the first one (who came along unexpectedly but was still surrounded by love) was the sweetest gift of all and holds a special place in our hearts.
There is nothing quite like the bond between a grandparent and grandchild!
You sound like such involved, incredible grandparents. Parker will look back in the years to come and appreciate this time with you guys. I enjoyed getting to know your family a little better!

Teresa, you and your hubby sound like the most wonderful grandparents. Amanda is so fortunate to have you for parents. Your grandsons are gorgeous young men! I love this post! We became grandparents for the first time last September. I never knew how 'grand' it was going to be!! She is the light of our lives. Since we raised two boys, having a grand daughter is especially wonderful.

What a great little guy you have! I had incredible grandparents who took me traveling when I was younger, and I promise you he will cherish all these special times for the rest of his life! I know I do! Such special relationships we have with our Grands!!!

I have blessed my mother, with 3 boys also. Though her and I were never close, seeing her with my son's warms my heart. I'm glad they are getting what I missed out on. Their happiness is all that matters to me, and my mother is an AWESOME Nana to my boys :)

What awesome grandparents you are! You can tell Parker is a proud brother. It's awesome when they are able to take interest in their sibblings. I'm sure Parkers great behavior has something to do with grandma and grandpa being so involve in his life. ;) Our children are special gifts, then comes the grand kids who are special treasures.
